The Dollar Store Is The Greatest Thing Eve
Let’s face reality for a minute here: no one has any money. Seriously. We are all broke. It’s just the way of the world now. Keep in mind, we are not all literally broke, but to put it in simple terms, you probably know more people who are struggling than you know who have beach houses. This means a part of survival in our modern world is learning to stretch out every single dollar.
Do you know the best place to do that? The dollar store. I mean, come on. It’s right there in the title, people.
Here are five reasons the dollar store is the most magical place on earth. Sorry Disney. You’re a very close second.
They Are Everywhere
Know matter where you are while reading this right now, there is a dollar store somewhere near you. All you have to do is pop in your car, check your GPS, and bam. If you are one of those people who think you are ABOVE dollar stores, don’t come crawling to me with soiled pants when you run out of toilet paper during the apocalypse.
You have no excuse, they are everywhere.
For The Most Part, Everything’s a Dolla
Don’t fall for places like Family Dollar, though, because they put that into the title to trick you. Look for places like The Dollar Tree. Seriously, every single thing in that store is a buck. I have walked away with best selling books, unopened CD’s from stellar nineties bands, and quite often, a six pack of Reese’s cups.
How can anyone even NOT think that’s awesome?
It’s Generally The Same Stuff As Other Stores
What people don’t understand is, just because you are buying a generic version of Chunky soup, does not mean the ingredients are that different. The FDA has rules for foods, and believe it or not, if they can sell it, it means it passed the same standards as all the stuff at the grocery store near you house that charges triple.
Keep in mind, I am not telling you to buy your meats at the dollar store. But I am telling you pudding and some cans of soup won’t kill you.
Rare Finds
Team Sleep is one of the best bands in the world and no one knows it. They are a side project of Deftones lead singer Chino Moreno, and they make beautiful, complex, haunting music. Music that is so good I want to share it with all the world. Well one day, at my local dollar store, I found a bin that had ten Team Sleep CD’s, unopened. As sad as I was to see such a great band delegated to a dollar store bin, I also knew I just got the haul I needed.
I went on to give ten people those CD’s, who all fell in love with the band and all went on to tell ten other people who would go on to tell ten other people, and so on, all that because of the dollar store.
As a matter of fact, just so you don’t think I am blowing smoke about how good this stuff is. Sad, yes, but also perfect.
Your Yearly Savings Would Blow Your Mind
Dollar stores are slowly becoming more profitable than Walmart. There is a reason for this. People are figuring out if they buy their toiletries and tin foil and simple things like that all a dollar store instead of a mega chain, they’re saving a great deal of money over the course of a year. We are talking hundreds of dollars, yes.
The funny part is, you may go to a dollar store once thinking it will be a quick fix, but as you realize slowly that is offers up most of the same stuff you need, only cheaper, you will find yourself coming back. Money talks, and for us poor folks, nothing speaks louder than a place that helps you save a few bucks every week. That really does add up over time.
The reality is, you are going to start seeing these places more and more. The world isn’t getting wealthier, and if there is a place that can make it so you can ensure you have your basic needs met as a reasonable price, isn’t that something we should all embrace?
Well, I, for one, already have. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have some dollar CD’s to hand out.
